BT Redcare Alarm System Closure – Action Required by 1 August 2025
We’d like to inform you that BT Redcare will permanently cease all alarm signalling services on 1 August 2025. As your trusted insurance advisor, Insure Smart is urging all clients currently using BT Redcare to take immediate steps to upgrade to a compliant alternative alarm system.
What's Happening
- All BT Redcare products—including Classic, GSM, Essential, Advanced, and Advanced Extra will be decommissioned on 01/08/25.
- This is part of BT's transition away from the legacy analogue network (PSTN) to an all-digital system.
How This Affects Your Insurance
Many commercial insurance policies require a monitored alarm system that remains operational at all times. After 1 August 2025, any system reliant on BT Redcare will cease functioning—potentially leaving your property unprotected and your insurance policy invalid. What You Need to Do
Insure Smart recommends the following actions: Review your current alarm system – Confirm if your premises are protected by BT Redcare. Speak with your alarm service provider – Choose a replacement that meets your insurer’s requirements. Ensure your new system is: Certified to BS EN 50136 standards. Provides dual path signalling (DP3 level or equivalent). Installed by an NSI or SSAIB accredited company. Common like-for-like replacements include systems such as CSL DualCom Gradeshift Pro DP3, among others.Don't Leave it Too Late
With thousands of UK businesses affected, demand for alternative systems is increasing. Suppliers and engineers may be booked up as the deadline approaches, so it’s wise to act now to ensure seamless coverage. We're Here to Help
